…And they’re off and racing!

The official grand opening of the Mackay Aquatic and Recreational Centre occurred at the weekend, with family fun festivities marking the introduction to this international-standard complex.

The running track was officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack, CQUniversity Vice Chancellor Professor Nick Klomp and Mayor Greg Williamson with a bit of a rematch running race. The Deputy PM had clearly been in training, taking home the win!

“This is a fantastic community complex providing local athletes with an Olympic-standard aquatics facility and track to train on, and residents will have access to covered, heated pools for recreation and programs,” Mr McCormack said.
