Constructing HER Career

Bringing back the Constructing HER Career event in collaboration with NAWIC NQ – North Queensland, TAFE Queensland, Workforce Australia Local Jobs – Townsville and QLeave for a second year, supporting women in Townsville to explore the opportunities, pathways and careers available in our industry.

Through three interactive activities and an engaging Q&A panel, the day was all about sparking curiosity, breaking down barriers and showcasing the many ways women can build a career in construction.

Women currently make up just 12% of the construction workforce, with an estimated 18,200 workers needed each year leading up to 2032. Events like this play an important role in creating meaningful pathways into the industry, while supporting long-term retention and development.

Most importantly, it was about showing women that there’s a place for HER in construction — whether that’s on site, in design, project management, trades, engineering or behind the scenes.

The future of construction needs HER.
