Huge milestone for Redcliffe Dolphins as eastern grandstand opens!
Opening to the general public on July 1, the new Redcliffe Dolphins Eastern Stand has certainly turned heads with its bold & beautiful red, white and grey.
The stand was officially opened last week by the Australian Minister for Sport, Bridget McKenzie, the Federal Member for Petrie, Luke Howarth, the State Member for Redcliffe, Yvette D’Ath, the Redcliffe Mayor, Cr. Alan Sutherland, as well as Paynters employees, Mark Shulman & Matt Hogg.
The new stand will add 3,000 seats, with capacity for 1000 standing spectators, contributing to the 10,000 total. For the Club, it was all about bringing supporters back to the game & producing a space that would draw attention in a very positive way.
Dolphins’ chairman Bob Jones said the opening of stage 2 was another big milestone in the club’s 71-year history.
“This is a facility the Moreton Bay region should be proud of. It is really putting the area on the sporting map as we attract more events from a range of codes to Redcliffe,” he said.
This project kicked off shortly after the hugely successful stage 1 Western Stand, also built by Paynters. It’s not only created a space for people on the eastern side to enjoy but also involved the construction of other necessary facilities such as the Junior Rugby League Academy, ticket and merchandise facilities, an associated food and beverage outlet, amenities and the main field upgrade. There was also an opportunity to improve existing facilities for future media coverage, producing benchmark standards for television coverage.
Stage two will open up even more opportunities for the stadium, which has already hosted the 2018 Rugby League Commonwealth Championships, a friendly between Peninsula Power and Melbourne City football clubs and the national final of the U18 Rugby League competition. It will host the 2018 Touch Football State of Origin in November.
From everyone here at Paynters, we wish the Dolphins every success for the remainder of the season & hope that their stadium is something they can be proud to call home!
