Krystelle Pela Polye and Ilya Pankov have joined the Paynters team this week, learning the in’s and out’s of some of our pathways within the construction industry. Ilya opted to work alongside our creative minds within the Design Department whilst Krystelle joined our Estimating Department for a week in work experience.

Paynters have been partnering with Construction Skills Qld (CSQ) for the past year, assisting in providing practical experience for the next generation of construction enthusiasts.

The Gateway to Industry Schools Program aims to create opportunities for students to be exposed to a range of learning experiences that can assist with planning their future career choices and pathways into employment in professional roles in the industry.

The program is an initiative of the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training, delivered in partnership with CSQ, to raise awareness of the different pathways into the building and construction industry.

Paynters General Manager Brett Johnston said “the placement creates links between industry and schools, allowing the students to get a taste for a particular role without having the stress of committing so soon.” “This is the third intake of work experience students for 2018, from various schools across Brisbane & we hope to continue this opportunity for students for many years to come” said Mr Johnston.

Ilya attends Kelvin Grove State College & has thoroughly enjoyed his week at Paynters. He said, “The team were very friendly and welcoming. “As I began my work experience they were always there to help me and guide me through the tasks I was given. They taught me many skills I could never learn at school and showed me what an architect’s day looks like. After I finish school and University, I hope I will be able to come back to Paynters!”
