Paynters vs Rizon
The challenge was set a few weeks ago for both Paynters and Rizon to divide into teams and to go head-to-head in a game of Touch Rugby League. Kicking off last Friday night, the friendly competition quickly turned competitive with the Paynters Construction team beating the Paynters Pre-Construction team in the first round. Rizon Commercial made it into the finals after a heated round against the Rizon Residential team. The battle all came to an end when Rizon Commercial was ultimately defeated by the Paynters Construction team who won the annual bragging rights by 4 points.
Referee of the game, Mitch Hamrey said “It was clear from the first kick-off that office pride and bragging rights were on the line with accusations of bribery, blindness and bias flew thick and fast as the action kicked off on the field. Some players walked the walk, with plenty of speed and skill on show. Others, not so much. After the final whistle blew there was plenty of blood, sweat and beers spilt and I think more hamstrings pulled than tries scored. It was great to see the games played in such a social spirit and for everyone to get involved no matter their skill, age or ability.”
The team spirit continued on despite the score, with a BBQ and drinks finishing off a great evening.
