The Rockhampton Girls Grammar was severely damaged by a large hailstorm in 2020 which ultimately damaged 16 buildings across the school, including two heritage listed buildings: Paterson House and ‘The Uniform Shop’. Paynters was engaged to carry out the roof replacement of all 16 buildings.

Like all heritage buildings, Paterson House (erected in 1891) and the uniform shop carry statutory obligations which have called for highly detailed planning requirements. In addition to being a very large project overall, the heritage listed buildings brought with them their own set of unique complexities. We were able to devise and implement a specialised heritage management plan and conservation strategy, in addition to the detailed construction program for the rest of the site.

The school has remained fully operational through the project, with Paynters developing a detailed plan to accommodate staff and students.
