The project was delivered as 2 separable portions, constructed in the heart of the Rockhampton Hospital precinct. The project included the relocation of a demountable building, earthworks, road works and carparks and the construction of a new High Voltage Central Energy Building.

Key elements included the supply and installation of 4 new generators, switchboards and electrical reticulation, electrical controls systems, fuel storage reticulation and prefabricated building.

Additional challenges for the Paynters construction team relate to services shutdowns, new connections and commissioning of the new facility which will include simulation of Ergon outages.

As part of a wider strategy to improve resilience and optimise core infrastructure availability, Paynters embarked on a project to install central energy generation and upgrade the emergency power provision at Rockhampton Hospital.
