A new chapter is underway on Great Keppel Island (Woppa), with sod officially turned on the Arrivals Plaza at Fishermen’s Beach.

Delivered in partnership with Livingstone Shire Council and funded through the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation’s Great Keppel Island Rejuvenation Fund, this project will create a welcoming and functional gateway for visitors arriving on the island.

The works will include:

  • A new arrivals plaza
  • Modern public amenities
  • Shaded seating areas
  • Accessible pathways
  • Landscaping and wayfinding that reflect the island’s unique cultural and natural character

Working with Wilson Architects, construction is now underway, with completion anticipated later this year.

This project marks an important step in strengthening the island’s infrastructure and supporting its future as a sustainable, world-class tourism destination.
