Stadium stand out
Gone are the days of sitting on the grass and being eaten alive by green ants! The Redcliffe Dolphins stadium is now just months away from the final stage being revealed.
Yesterday, Paynters Managing Director Nigel Gardiner, along with Dolphins Chairman Bob Jones, Dolphins CEO Tony Murphy, Acting Mayor of Moreton Bay Regional Council, Cr Mike Charlton, Federal MP for Petrie Luke Howarth, and Cr for Economic Development, Events & Tourism Peter Flannery turned sod on Stage 3 of the club expansion, which is set to increase the stadium’s seating capacity to 10,000.
To meet the rising demand for games at Dolphin Stadium, Moreton Bay Regional Council has signed off on a $2.5-million contribution to finish the stadium’s extensive redevelopment. The Federal Government also committing an additional $3.5 million towards the project.
Paynters first began construction on the stadium site in late 2015, with the Western stand providing 4,000 seats when it reopened in 2016. More tiered seating was added during the second stage of the project in 2018. The Stage 3 works has involved the development of the Northern end of the ground. The 3 stages have formed part of the five-year expansion project funded by the State and Federal governments, in partnership with the Moreton Bay Regional Council.
Paynters Managing Director Nigel Gardiner said that he is incredibly proud that the final piece of the puzzle is coming to fruition.
“We feel privileged to have been on this journey with Redcliffe Dolphins from the beginning & can’t wait to see the stadium in all its glory,” said Mr Gardiner. “This is certainly a project which deserves recognition for the benefits it is bringing the local community & the region has major bragging rights on having such a facility in their back yard! The economic benefit of this stadium is endless – it is a long-term community asset for events within the region and a facility that Redcliffe should be proud.”
