Staying Connected

Every year 190 Australians working in the construction industry take their own lives; this means we lose a construction worker every second day to suicide.

With this devastating statistic, in addition to the current Covid-19 climate, mental health and staying connected has never been more important for our industry.

In honour of Mates in Construction Fly the Flag Day and RU OK Day, Paynters held events across several our construction sites in addition to our head office, to speak about the importance of mental health – not just today but every day. The key message shared with our team members and subcontractor network is that you don’t need to be an expert to reach out – just a good friend and a great listener.

As a business, Paynters will continue to look for ways to connect, educate and break down the stigma that surrounds mental health within our industry. Staying true to this statement, Paynters has recently made a commitment to increase the number of trained ‘Connectors’ within our business and across our sites, ensuring staff and subcontractors have support in a crisis, and direct connections to professional help.
