The Paynters Pathway
2019 has seen the Paynters Cadet team grow in both numbers and knowledge. Fortnightly site visits to the Kelvin Grove State College project is giving our Cadets valuable insights into the day-to-day operations of a construction site. The site visits led by Project Manager Bryan Beilby, have allowed the team to track the progress of the project from site establishment, earthworks, structure and internal finishes through to the rapidly approaching completion.
Contracts Manager Mitchell Hamrey said “It’s great that the people of Paynters take time out of their busy schedules to share their knowledge and experience with the Cadets, and thanks to the strong reputation that Paynters has throughout the building industry, the program will continue for many years to come.”
In addition to the regular Kelvin Grove visits, the team was lucky enough to see another aspect of Paynters construction capabilities during a tour of the Engine Test Cell Upgrade project at RAAF Base Amberley. The tour led by TAE Aerospace Product Engineering Manager Ben McGruer and Project Manager David Serfontein, along with Paynters Project Manager Katrina Tomkins was a great example to showcase the Paynters collaborative approach to the projects we’re involved in.
‘Our People are our business’ has become a Paynters moto & is fostered though the cadet program by supporting the professional development of each cadet and providing them pathways to fulfil their goals and aspirations. Building on this value, our cadet program is fittingly named the Paynters Pathway. Our cadets learn on the job by completing rotations within Paynters to gain experience in; estimating, design, contracts administration and site administration. This provides them opportunities to work with and learn from the many employees of Paynters who make the business what it is, and to develop the skills and knowledge required for a successful career in construction.
“Our team of cadets is such a diverse group, their experience in the construction industry ranges from only a few months to many years. Some of them have their hearts set on being Architects, Estimators or Project Managers and some of them change their mind with every rotation they complete. One thing they all have in common is that they are all driven and ambitious, if they continue like this, they will become even more valuable members of the Paynters team than they already are” said Mr Hamrey
