Villa Carramar opens to residents

March 26, 2018

The PDQ team are pleased to announce the completion of the stunning new extension to the Churches of Christ Care Villa Carramar in Stanthorpe.

Designed, constructed and commissioned by PDQ’s specialist Aged Care team, the 68 bedroom, three storey facility is based on a cottage or house model. It encompasses a diversity of accommodation options as well as smaller communal and private spaces for residents and their families. Paynter Dixon Queensland’s in-house Interior Design Team ensured each cottage/home included distinct and individual themes, creating unique environments for residents. The building has also been designed to maximise the magnificent rural environment that surrounds it, with beautiful landscaped gardens and courtyards.

The facility follows stage one works at Villa Carramar, also delivered by the Paynter Dixon Queensland Team. PDQ undertook a master plan of the site in 2007, delivering a 37 bed Residential Aged Care Facility. The physical and operational integration between the new and existing buildings is seamless, a testament to PDQ’s high quality workmanship and specialist knowledge of contemporary approaches to aged care delivery. This development has been driven by a social care model where the resident is supported to live the kind of life they choose in an environment that enhances their remaining abilities and living preferences.

The collaborative dynamic between the PDQ team and the Churches of Christ Care team enabled robust dialogue and debate, facilitating the entire team to challenge existing orthodoxy and to create a cottage model that reflects the values, vision and mission of Churches of Christ Care.

This state-of-the-art project was delivered on time and within budget, incorporating the full FFE and commissioning phase tasks. The facility was able to admit the first residents within a week of construction handover – a testament to our dedicated Project Team.
