Gail’s journey
A 20 YEAR MILESTONE — From electric typewriters to advance modern technology, Gail has certainly seen it all at PDQ. Over the years, Gail has become the go-to person when seeking the history of PDQ & how far they’ve come over the last two decades (you ask it, she’ll know the answer!).
Commencing with Paynter’s in early 1996 as a clerks typist, Gail completed all administration functions for PDQ employees. She spent the next 6 years in this position growing with the Company, working closely with the GM, all the while, doing it with a smile on her face and only a black & white printer at her disposal! “At the time there were only 17 people in the Brisbane office.” “Given that the Company now employees in excess of 150 people, it’s come a long way!” said Gail. After 6 years Gail moved into the Accounts Department, which was intended as a temporary move where she continued to juggle her own role. As it became evident, Gail would eventually move into the Accounts role permanently for the following 8 years. At this point PDQ grew from strength to strength, and so did the volume of tenders. Given her knowledge of the Company and ability to adopt to any situation, Gail was moved into Pre Construction, working on tender submissions, learning the in’s & outs of preparing a comprehensive tender.
Only recently has Gail moved back into familiar territory, heading the Administration team in our Brisbane office. Given the variety of roles that Gail has had over the last 20 years, it’s no wonder she’s always been extremely motivated and challenged. Gail mentions that she enjoys the roles and learning about what makes a Company strive for greatness. “It’s about getting together the right group of people to form a functional, productive, result driven team” said Gail.
Over the last two decades Gail has watched PDQ move into a variety of sectors including Aged Care, Infrastructure, and Insurance, whilst creating greater opportunities within the Education and Hospitality sectors.
Gail is a huge credit to where PDQ is situated and a vital asset to the day-to-day running of the business. Her loyalty over the last 20 years (almost 21) certainly doesn’t go unnoticed as we continue to employ more individuals with her traits and skill set.
