Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!
Our team were incredibly honoured to join Paynters Indigenous Engagement Manager and proud Eastern Arrernte man Grant Marshall this #NAIDOCWeek for a very special morning in the Paynters Brisbane Office.
Grant spoke of the richness and diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, explaining the AIATSIS Map of Indigenous Australia (which will be displayed in all Paynters office locations).
Talking to this year’s NAIDOC theme – Get Up, Stand Up, Show Up, Grant spoke candidly of his family and their hardships, a reminder to everyone in the room that there is still work to be done, and that we are all responsible for driving positive change for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. We can’t thank Grant enough for his powerful words, and for taking the time to show us some treasured family artifacts, explaining their meaning and traditional use.
The team also enjoyed some bush tucker, prepared by Fig Jam & Co – an Indigenous owned and operated catering business who bring a uniquely Australian taste to the wider community by combining native bush flavours such as Davidson Plum, Pigface, Myrtle, Finger Lime, Bush Tomato and Native Tamarind.
