The Mackay Region is only a few short months away from being the proud owners of the latest and greatest sporting venue in Queensland! The state of the art Mackay Aquatic and Recreation Complex is well on its way to completion, with the Paynters project team hard at work ensuring key milestones continue to be met.

An update on the site works: The IAAF standard athletics track is completed including the line marking and field events such as discus, shotput, hammer throw and long jump are finished. The playing field has now passed its final inspection and is now in maintenance phase.

The tiling to the 3 FINA standard pools has just been completed. The pools are now ready for access railing and start blocks to be installed.

Although some unfavourable weather has come through the region, Paynters are on track to start completing the topsoil and carpark asphalt – due to be completed before Christmas.

Upon completion, the Mackay Aquatic and Recreation Complex will be fully equipped to host events ranging from major international athletics meets to local sporting competitions. The complex will become a community landmark, providing specialised facilities for schools, sporting clubs, community groups, organisations and businesses for the Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday Region to enjoy. Stay tuned for Paynters final unveiling of this milestone project in 2019!
