The Bendigo Jockey Club and community were devastated by severe flooding in February 2024, which caused extensive damage across the site.

The flood resulted in damage to the main reception, all offices, jockey change rooms, bathrooms, canteen, and public bar, rendering them non-operational. Time was not on our side, with only four months until the Bendigo Cup
following contract execution and building approval, our Project team expedited the program, carrying out the work around race meets, working after-hours and on weekends. Additionally, to maintain media coverage during
these events, the team used hoarding and other discreet innovative measures to conceal the construction site.

Through collaboration with the insurer, loss adjuster, and the Jockey Club, Paynters completed the work in time for the marquee event to the satisfaction of the Jockey Club and the broader Bendigo community, whilst at the same
time, reducing a significant Business Interruption claim for the insurer.
