Meredith House & Mews
Following a significant kitchen fire at a bed and breakfast in Swansea, Tasmania, Paynters was engaged under a managed cost model to deliver the reinstatement works. The fire caused structural damage to the kitchen, with extensive smoke and soot damage impacting the remainder of the property.
The project provided an opportunity to not only reinstate the fire-damaged areas, but also improve the functionality of the accommodation. Paynters rebuilt the kitchen and back-of-house areas to a new design, incorporating two additional guest rooms, while repairing and reinstating the front-of-house areas and seven existing rooms.
As part of the works, Paynters also managed the upgrades required to bring the property into compliance with current fire safety requirements. The result was a fully revitalised bed and breakfast that retained the character of the original property while providing improved facilities, additional accommodation and enhanced fire safety for its guests.
