Paynters was engaged for the design and construction of a new multi-storey learning centre and the refurbishment of the administration and Block A at Geebung Special School.

To minimize disruptions to school operations, the project was divided into two separable portions:

  • Separable Portion 1 consisted of the General Learning Centre including infill with all associated works, services, ramps and access paths, and associated landscaping.
  • Separable Portion 2 included the refurbishment of the existing Administration and Block A, associated works, services and associated landscaping.

With the site located in the centre of an operational school with constrained access, considerable discussions were had with school stakeholders to ensure the site was set up with safety as the key priority. The site was fully enclosed by full height hoarding with child panels at the bottom to prevent students from climbing or accessing the site.

The completion of the new facilities was warmly received by the growing school community.
