KFC Kempsey
Following the devastating flooding that impacted the NSW Mid-North Coast in 2025, Paynters was engaged to deliver flood rectification and reinstatement works at the KFC Kempsey store on behalf of Restaurant Brands Australia Pty Ltd. The significant flood damage required the immediate closure of the store until rectification works were completed.
During the internal strip-out, our team identified multiple structurally compromised steel columns – a latent condition that represented a critical hold point for reinstatement. Paynters worked collaboratively with all claim stakeholders and the building owner to design, document and obtain a separate Complying Development Certificate to rectify the structural issues identified. Our team re-engineered the construction programme to run the structural rectification alongside the internal fit out – directly mitigating extended Business Interruption exposure for the insurer.
The flood rectification works included replacement of cold rooms, wall and floor coverings, services reinstatement, and new joinery and fixtures to KFC’s current store requirements.
Further Business Interruption savings were achieved through programme acceleration, extended working hours and an increased labour force – enabling Practical Completion and Handover to be achieved ahead of the expedited reopening date set months in advance.
