St Agnes’ Care – Emmaus Memory Support Village
Paynters is proud to have completed the latest design and construction project for St Agnes’ Catholic Parish in Port Macquarie: Emmaus Village – a new community for people living with dementia.
Emmaus Village will provide 24/7 support to 94 residents who are living with cognitive impairment. Adopting the Small Household Model, the village’s design focuses on providing as much independence as possible while offering continuous support.
This project included construction of:
- Residential Care Houses: The village consists of 12 uniquely designed Residential Care Houses, each featuring one of three beautiful themes: coastal, rural, and township. Each house is home to only eight residents living with dementia, fostering a close-knit community. Residents are supported to continue the rituals of daily life where all meals are prepared together in house kitchens and laundry is also completed in the in-house facilities. These houses are situated within a secure suburban environment, allowing the residents close access to the community building and gardens.
- Community Building and Common Areas: The two-storey community building serves as a social hub for residents and visitors and includes an office space for staff. The ground level features a foyer, café, communal recreation rooms, a salon, and a wellness centre. The upper-level houses staff rooms and office spaces. The village also features a BBQ shelter, potting shed, orchard, chickens and an entertainment deck with amenities.
- Chapel Refurbishments: The existing chapel, along with the adjoining sacristy, chaplain’s office, and corridor spaces, have been beautifully refurbished.
- Carpark Works: Upgrades to the existing carpark facilities by improving functionality and increasing the number of spaces.
