We were lucky enough to host two Try’a Trades across the region recently.

Firstly, Our Rockhampton team welcomed students from Northern Rockhampton State High School and The Rockhampton Grammar School at our Fitzroy Community Hospice site where Paynters is currently constructing a palliative care facility.  These students had the opportunity to try their hands at plumbing, carpentry and bricklaying trades.

Secondly, students from Mackay Northern Beaches State High School and Mackay State High School visited the Mater Mackay project where we are currently completing an upgrade of perioperative services. These students were given the chance to explore trades such as electrical, plumbing and carpentry. Our CEO – Sean O’Brien, also took time out to experience a Try’a Trade firsthand.

”It was wonderful to see high school students be exposed to career pathways in the construction industry. A big thank you to CSQ and the Paynters team for pulling this great event together. I wish I had the same privilege when I was their age, it would have saved me a lot of uncertainty. Hopefully we will see these young people on our construction site in the near future.” – Sean O’Brien

In addition to the hands-on activities, the students were taken on an exclusive site tour of the projects, providing them with valuable insights into the different elements that make up a construction project.

Partnering with CSQ, these events provide students with practical exposure to various trades in real-life construction settings, that will not only foster interest in trades but also inspire future careers in the construction industry. We look forward to more opportunities to contribute to the growth and development of young talents in the community.
