Paynters have successfully completed the renal unit refurbishment, and emergency department expansion, at Mater Private Hospital Townsville. These works were delivered within a live hospital environment while maintaining uninterrupted critical services.

The works included the transformation of an existing hospital space into a modern Renal Dialysis Unit, comprising 12 dialysis chair bays supported by dedicated clinical staff stations, patient amenities, and specialist infrastructure. Critical services were integrated throughout, including reverse osmosis (RO) water treatment systems, medical gas reticulation, mechanical services, and façade upgrades to support the complex requirements of renal care.

The emergency department expansion delivered five new fast-track treatment bays and associated clinical support spaces, seamlessly integrated with the existing department to improve patient flow and strengthen emergency response capability.

The project was carefully staged to deliver the works within a fully functioning hospital, the project ensured continuity of renal and emergency services throughout construction. The result is a high-performing healthcare facility that enhances Mater Private Hospital Townsville’s ability to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality care to the community.
